Things I like

A tanktop with a zippered back, pretty earrings, a tapestry, and a canvas bag. I've been looking for a cool tapestry for awhile; the bitter cold necessitates an extra layer of insulation over my bedroom window! All from Urban Outfitters.

These glasses, when filled, reveal whatever drink they contain! Awesome.

Coffee Totem

A little pricey but completely adorable, I would love to display a set of these mugs on my counter.

Someday I would love to live in a house that resembles a curiosity shop. This just became a life goal of mine after viewing this home located in upstate New York. Isn't it perfect?

Star Lights

While in Seattle last week I picked up one of these paper star lanterns. I love how ornate they are; mine looks great hanging over my desk.

Terrariums

I kind of want to cover every surface in my apartment with terrariums. There's even a group on flickr devoted to these wonderful things. Plus, I'd bet they're relatively roommate-friendly!

Antlers

My roommate says that mounted antlers are tasteless but I'm strangely attracted to them. In the name of keeping the peace I'm hoping to settle on a small pair for my bedroom. What do you think-- are they tacky, overly trendy, or AMAZING? I've already researched some options; I hope someone else out there thinks they're as wonderful as I do!

Rain

A few weeks ago the temperatures dipped and fall began. With the cooler weather came rain, mostly in a steady weeklong drizzle. I haven't minded it, though, as it gives me the excuse to wear cozy sweaters and drink lots of chai tea. It's a little difficult to start the week well when all I want to do is stay in bed and read.

Today will be spent moving boxes into my sweltering-hot, brand-new apartment. Citrus-thyme water sounds like the perfect refreshment for the occasion. Plus, it would look so welcoming in my empty new fridge!

Weekend

By the time I get around to the other side of this weekend, I will be moving into my apartment straight across the country! Needless to say, I'll be busy. Hopefully I'll get the chance to pick some flowers as an apartment-warming gift to myself! Anyway, I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend as well!

Chocolate Strawberry Wedding

If only

I'm in the market for a carpet to place under the dinner table in my next apartment. If this rug from urban outfitters were a bit larger, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat.

Small eating areas

Lately I've been thumbing through my copy of Domino: Book of Decorating that I was lucky enough to win on EmilyStyle a few months back. I'm really excited to move in to my new apartment next month but a little worried about its small galley-style kitchen.

Although completely different styles, both of these photos suggest ways to utilize a small eating area. I love the idea of stools that could tuck under a small table(first photo) and the open shelves above the dining area(second) that allow for extra storage. Both very clever ideas.

The Domino book itself is pretty great, by the way, and I can see myself getting a lot of mileage out of it when I graduate school and get a larger place.

Birch nightstand

This tutorial on building a birch log table is really great. I'm fascinated by the shape and texture of the grouped logs; I'd love to create my own to use as a nightstand. Doing so would definitely add some personality to my bedroom!

Vintage Printables

Vintage Printables is a great online resource for free high-resolution printable images of everything under the sun. I'd love to hang a couple of their designs in the dining/living room area of my next apartment; they'd be so pleasant to look at while eating a quiet meal.

Wishful Thinking (or, How I will Rationalize this Purchase)

It's Monday, therefore, I need a little cheering up. The weekend is over and my alarm went off promptly at 7:00 AM this morning. Wouldn't it have been nice to wake up to something a little more pleasant?

I'm thinking of ordering one of the banners from royal buffet to string on the wall over the head of my bed. The muted colors and the sheer cheeriness of a garland should strike a perfect balance and make getting out of bed a much simpler task.
One can dream, right? In the meantime, I'm debating which one I should purchase.

Knit Blanket

I suppose it's just a silly whim, considering it's summer and all, but I'd love to own a colorful hand-knit blanket like this. It just looks so cozy!

Moving Out

Today I take my last final exam!

Afterwards, I will finish packing up my apartment and moving its contents into a tiny storage unit. Wish me luck!

Kitchen Inspiration

I'm moving into a new apartment this fall and am really excited. One of the main problems, though, is the tiny galley-style kitchen. My roommate and I plan to paint the backsplash with chalkboard paint in order to add a little interest to the space.

I'd also love to have this rabbit dish rack. The kitchen lacks a dishwasher, so I'll have to buy a drying rack either way. It might as well be clever!

Spruced Up

I like homes that are decorated with lots of color. Everything just looks a little better when done that way. I especially love the zig-zag green rug below.
