Confession:

I haven't cooked anything this entire summer.
Don't get me wrong, I love to make my own meals. There's something so rewarding about researching and preparing good food-- yet I haven't done so once this entire summer.
After big continental breakfasts and restaurant lunches at work, I'm just not in the mood to make myself a sit-down dinner. Instead, I'm content with some fruit, yogurt, or toast. I've also discovered that cooking for one seems much more tedious. Now that I don't have anyone with which to share my food, I'm just not motivated to prepare anything. Horrible, right?
I haven't gone completely insane, thankfully. I'm still poring over recipes, squirreling them away until I move in to my apartment in August. I hope to make this decadent-sounding creme brulee french toast as soon as I unpack my kitchen.

Sometimes yogurt and toast is fabulous (and look..no dishes!) I do love the way that french toast looks though. :)

it happens to all of us sometimes. plus no dishes AND sounds like you're saving a lot of money on food. if i was single i'd prob do a lot more scavenging and less cooking.

saving that recipe now. i'm pretty sure if i had to choose a last meal, it would involve french toast of some kind.

I think yoghurt and toast in the summer is how it's supposed to be. I'm fairly certain about this. It's all I eat, anyhow.

I haven't really been cooking, or more importantly baking, since I moved either. My kitchen is tiny and there's just so many great paces to eat in New York. My meal making consists of pasta, beans and rice and once I made cookies. The pillsbury kind.

What a lovely blog!

I get a little lazy in the summer. I love to cook too, but the kitchen seems like the worst place to be in hot, humid Atlanta. I'm going to look up recipes for gazpacho now.

This french toast recipe looks so yummy...it might have to be something that I try this summer for me and my sisters. Thanks for sharing.

I haven't been cooking either--our 350 sq. ft. studio is not really conducive to it. Can't wait for a plentiful autumn--and soups!

I know what you mean, I can't cook either when there is nobody else to share the food with. Most recipes are written for 2 or more helpings:)
Enjoy the break though, and I am sure your cooking will be awesome when you unpack!:)

i totally understand that, cooking for one can be boring! it takes you ages to make it and one second to eat it :) i was alone tonight because my boyfriend has been working like a dog, and i made a cheddar cheese omelet with tomatoes and onions. really easy and satisfying. so there's a tip, i guess! :) maybe not very fancy but yummy! xoxo

It's so hard to be motivated to cook in the summer. I usually make sandwiches. This french toast looks divine.
